Coaches
Beer League Hockey Practice is continuing to expand throughout Ontario and the rest of Canada. If you or someone you know would be a good fit for a coaching position, please complete the form linked below.
Coaches commit to weekly practices where they lead Beer Leaguers through a series of drills and skill development exercises. There are guidelines and resources that BLHP provides, and coaches are given a good deal of freedom to build and develop their own programs based on their experience, feedback from the skaters, and feedback from the organization. Each program has a head coach with a support staff of assistant coaches. Coaches should be prepared to teach a variety of skill levels to a variety of adults of different ages and hockey backgrounds. Patience, and good attitude, positive energy, and willingness to provide direct feedback as well as address the group as a whole are important assets. We’re also growing our Goalie Practice programming and would love to connect with more goalie coaches in Ontario. Referees commit to weekly games, usually held at the same times and same locations for the duration of the season. There are some opportunities for refs to manage weekly Shinny games, which are low stakes, and the refs are expected to maintain the positive environment and good flow to a friendly pickup. For the most part, our opportunities lie in reffing our league games.
